by Mike Cooch

Everyone has heard this promise: Using the internet can grow your business, increase profits, and simplify operations. The question, however, is: How many businesses are using available web tools and know-how to their greatest advantage?

The answer when it comes to small businesses is: not many.

About a decade ago, when the web was first getting hot, it was nearly impossible for small businesses to take advantage of the web; it was just too expensive and difficult to find talent to help you. Thankfully this has all changed.

To most people, wireless security is the prevention of unauthorized access or damage to computers using wireless networks. Most companies do their best to enhance security levels, taking preventive measures to nip security breaches in the bud and keep their businesses up and running smoothly and safely.

What if I were to tell you that sometimes, this is just not enough?

Unfortunately, hackers make a living out of trying to steal your data and ruin your life…

What can you do to truly protect your business?

Boost Email Productivity
www.everonit.com
by Stephanie Spino

Is your Outlook stealing a good hour or so from you each morning? If so, you are in the same boat as the majority of working Americans. Don’t panic – these 3 tips will have you on the fast track to reclaiming your morning sanity.

1. If you are the only one, make it a number one – General rule of thumb: if someone has sent a message exclusively to you it is likely to be more of a priority than an email with eight recipients.

2. Mailbox rules and organization should be ruling you: Filter your emails into simple, manageable batches. Set up appropriate folders; make sure you can get your hands on items quickly. Also, designate set times for reading and sending emails…and stick to them!

3. Implement other (speedier) means of communication into your workday – I am not arguing that email is not a necessary element of the business world; I am simply suggesting that you take advantage of the perks other mediums have to offer. If you need to get in touch with co-workers or clients, alternative methods may not only make more sense, but save your email box from constantly filling up. Instant messaging, picking up your phone, or even walking down the hall to ask a colleague a quick question will save you both time and frustration in the end.

Standardize your view for Microsoft Word Docs
www.everonit.com
by Ali Mohaisen

Would you like to standardize the default view for all of your Microsoft Word documents?

If you prefer a certain view for Word documents, but somehow find yourself getting a different view every time you open Word, read on. The following steps allow you set your favorite view as the default.

First, you will need to configure your computer to show hidden folder and file extensions. Please open any folder, then follow these steps:

1. Select Tools > Folder Options

2. Select the View tab, then make sure you UNCHECK “Hide extensions for known file types” and that you check "Show hidden files and folders”

3. Click “Apply to All Folders” in the same window

Now you are ready to set your Word default view:

1. Find a file on your machine called "Normal.dot." You can simply search for it using the search window.
2. In the top window of Word, click File > Open

3. Browse to the location of the Normal.dot file that you previously found

4. Select the name of the file, and click open

5. Once the file is open, select any view you prefer, then save the file and close Word

Now, every time you open Word to create new files, it will show up in the view style you have selected! Keep in mind that if you have received a file with a different view style, it will open in that style and not your default one. The fix to this is easy. Once you open the file, change the view to your preferred view, and hit save. Now anytime you open the file it will show in your preferred view.
